The Troop

We are the Bulls Scout Troop and are part of Waltham Abbey’s largest mixed youth organization. We change lives by offering 10 to 14-year-olds fun, exciting, and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure, and the chance to help others and make a positive impact in our community.

We can help young people reach their full potential in life. It all starts when they are in their early youth, and gives them that head start before they reach young adulthood. Our meetings develop basic skills with our teamwork challenges, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness, and commitment.

We can teach our young people skills that will help them to gain good jobs, save lives, help others and even change the world.

The Bulls Troop was created in April 2007. It was set up to create a mid-week Scout Troop that will benefit many young people, who have after-school and weekend activities, that make it difficult for them to attend the Friday evening meetings.

Meetings

The Bulls meet every Wednesday evening (except during a school holiday). We normally arrive at 7.05 pm to be ready for our Flag break at 7.15 pm. Our meetings generally finish at 9 pm.

Membership

We welcome all young people into our Scout Troop. Regardless of your personal ability, race, or gender, we will make you feel very welcome and help you to achieve personal skills. The joining age is 10 years old (minimum age requirement) to 14 years old, when we hope they will continue scouting in our Explorer unit (their next age level up).

So …. if you’re new to scouting and you’ve ever wondered what we do on a troop night, why not come along and give a session a try? Parents or guardians are welcome to come along too and see what we all get up to. Of course, it is always advisable to contact us first, as we often have planned activities away from Elphwood, and there is nothing worse than turning up and nobody being there.

Don’t worry about subscriptions. Just tell us you’re coming, turn up and enjoy your first week absolutely free. Once you decide you like scouting, we will ask for more information about the young people and start asking for subs.
